Your Guides
Guides Scott and Chris O’Donnell (no relation) are among the top winter steelhead experts on the coast. Scott, a veteran angler and Spey instructor, helped design the Rio Skagit line and has served as Sage Rods’ demonstration caster. Chris brings over a decade of local guiding experience. Both are passionate about coaching and boast intimate knowledge of coastal winter steelhead fisheries.

Trip Format & Fishing Approach
You’ll float and wade the best coastal runs selected daily based on flow and timing. Spey casting is the focus, and fly gear is included along with a selection of flies tailored to local patterns. Expect true winter steelhead conditions, cold weather, variable flows, and realistic catch expectations: two hookups per day typically signals a successful outing.

Logistics & FAQs
  • Trips are day‑long, launching from Manzanita, OR.
  • Self‑book accommodations in Manzanita (not supplied), but guided lunch and gear are included.
  • Rates: ($) Per day, per boat (1–2 anglers), covering guide service, lunch, rods, and flies. Licenses, transport, and lodging are extra.
  • Skill Level: Best suited for those proficient with two-handed rods seeking to refine sink-tip techniques. Winter conditions are cold and wet, and river flows can be tricky.
